Criminal Profiling - 5 Hours TS, 2 Hours IP, 1 Hour LS


Course Description

This course is designed to provide the investigator and prosecutor with an overview of criminal investigative analysis (criminal profiling) as it applies to the investigation of violent crime. The student will be able to identify the traits and characteristics of the violent offender, identify the personality disorders often found in violent offenders, and list the availability of criminal investigative analysis (behavioral science) resources. We will discuss the various techniques utilized by the criminal profiler such as; equivocal death evaluation, rapist profiling, profiling the unknown offender in a homicide case, utilization of statement analysis and the use of cognitive analysis in an attempt to obtain 35% more information in the interview.
